Class Action filed Against The New York State Unified Court System for Discrimination Against Latinos and Other Limited English Proficient Individuals

New York, NY – Today, Vasquez Segarra LLP filed a federal class action lawsuit in the Southern District of New York on behalf of named-Plaintiff Rene Alvarado Mejia and similarly situated individuals, who are challenging the New York Unified Court System (NYUCS) and the County of Rockland’s unlawful discriminatory treatment of LEP individuals. The lawsuit was filed because NYUCS and/or the County of Rockland discriminates against non-dominate English speakers from participating in its diversion court simply because their dominate language is other than English.
